~ 2nd ANNUAL LAUGH FOR THE CURE® ~ Jacksonville’s Funniest Charity Event ~

Jacksonville, FL – March 18th -- The Comedy Zone is honored to host the 2nd Annual Laugh for the Cure® (LFTC) on Tuesday, May 20, 2008.  Laugh For The Cure® is a grass-roots effort that has quickly developed into one of the country’s most anticipated and unique fundraising events.  The North Florida Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation receives 100% of the proceeds.

What:  Laugh for the Cure®, benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, North Florida Affiliate

Where: The Comedy Zone in Mandarin, Located in the Ramada at I-295 & San Jose Blvd. 

When:  Tuesday, May 20, 2008.  Doors open at 6:00pm for the silent auction.  Guests must be seated by 7:15pm for the live auction and comedy show.  The evening concludes with a check presentation at 9:30pm.

LFTC was founded in Charlotte by a group of volunteers in July 2002.  Laugh for the Cure® received national recognition for its innovative and creative approach to fighting breast cancer when Founder and Director, Tammy S. Greyshock, was selected as a 2006 Yoplait® Champion.  (For additional information on this award, please reference the separate Yoplait® Press Release on our website under Charlotte.)  Our primary goal in founding LFTC was to establish an event unlike any other to increase awareness around breast health issues and to help to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.  We believe that the most effective way to accomplish this goal is to fund the incredible work already being carried out by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, North Florida Affiliate.  The Komen North Florida Affiliate provides funding for education, screening and treatment efforts to the greater Jacksonville area.  The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is widely recognized as the nation’s leading catalyst in the fight against breast cancer. 

This year’s Laugh for the Cure®, hosted by The Comedy Zone, will include silent and live auctions and a hilarious PG comedy show featuring two of the funniest stand-up comedians in the country.  The LFTC auction will be filled with hot items such as golf trips and resort packages, spa treatments, gift certificates to local businesses and celebrity autographed merchandise!  Our feature comedian, Frankie Paul, will kick off the comedy show.  He will be followed by our headlining comedian, Shaun Jones!  Laugh for the Cure® is lucky to have both these comedians join the LFTC family.  They are both veterans of the stand-up circuit and perform in the most respected comedy clubs across the country.  This handpicked show will be sure to have us all “laughing for a cure”!
